The Embroiderers’ Great Escape is a weekend of stitching held in March each year. It is organized by the Northern North Island embroidery guilds which are a part of the Association of New Zealand Embroidery Guilds
The main event is held on the last weekend of March each year at Orewa College – thirty minutes north of the CBD. Orewa is a seaside suburb with a fabulous swimming beach, vibrant restaurants, and a good array of shops.
We hope that the line-up of Classes and Tutors that we have on offer will entice you to join us for another weekend of stitching.
There is also an Exhibition for us all to share our work – we all love to be inspired by each other’s handiwork. The Exhibition theme for 2023 is “Coffee and Cake”. We also have a General Display category if you have work you’d like to display that doesn’t fit into the other Exhibition categories.
There will be some traders to tempt you, a Steptoe table where someone else’s trash may become your treasure and of course raffles. You are also invited to our Saturday Night Dinner at an additional cost.
So come and join us for a wonderful weekend of stitching and fun!
On the following Tuesday and Wednesday there are a couple of ‘after-classes’ held at Onehunga Community House – 15 minutes south of the CBD in suburbia.
